During winter, rodents actively search for warm shelter indoors. Unlike some animals, they do not hibernate. Many rodent species breed throughout the year, allowing populations to grow quickly. In the wild, rats and mice typically live for around six months. When they have access to shelter, food, and water inside a building, they can survive for up to a year or longer.
