What to do if you find a German Cockroach

German cockroaches are one of the most common and persistent household pests. If you find one in your home, it’s important to take immediate action to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Here’s what you need to know about German cockroaches and German cockroach pest control.

What do German Cockroaches Look Like?

Adult German cockroaches are dark brown or black, with two parallel stripes running down their backs. They have long, antennae-like feelers and six legs. They’re about 1/2 to 5/8 inch long, which is smaller than most other types of cockroaches. Nymphs, or baby German cockroaches, are even smaller and lighter in colour than adults. They don’t have fully developed wings, so they can’t fly.

Telling apart male and female German cockroaches is easy if you know what to look for. Male German cockroaches have long, thin abdominal plates that extend all the way to the tip of their abdomens. Females have shorter abdominal plates that end before their abdomens taper to a point. Both males and females have egg capsules that they carry around with them until they’re ready to lay their eggs. A female German cockroach can lay up to 50 eggs at a time, so it’s important to get rid of them as soon as you see one!

How Did I Get German Cockroaches?

German cockroaches are often brought into homes in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, or secondhand furniture. Once they’re inside, they’ll hide in cracks and crevices near food sources, like kitchens and bathrooms. German cockroaches are mostly active at night, so you might not see them during the day. If you spot one during the day, it’s a sign of a large infestation.

How Do I Get Rid Of Them?

Getting rid of a German cockroach infestation is best left to the professionals. Newcastle Pest Exterminators has years of experience dealing with these pesky pests, and we know exactly how to get rid of them quickly and efficiently. We’ll work with you to devise a treatment plan to eliminate your infestation for good!

Do I Need German Cockroach Pest Control?

German cockroaches are one of the most common and destructive pests in homes and businesses. These pesky critters can quickly multiply, infesting entire buildings within just a matter of days. Not only do they feed on human food, but they also carry a number of potentially harmful bacteria. Without effective German cockroach pest control, these bugs can quickly overwhelm a property and cause significant damage.

Fortunately, there are a number of effective methods that can be used to help eliminate cockroaches permanently. Our professional exterminators will use specialised chemicals that target the insects’ nervous systems and avoid harming humans or pets in the process.

Additionally, sanitation is another key factor in controlling cockroaches. By ensuring that all garbage is properly sealed and dishes are cleaned regularly, homeowners can make it much more difficult for these little pests to establish themselves indoors. Consistent prevention measures and regular pest-control treatments make it possible to keep these unwanted guests at bay for good.
